If You Don’t Care or Aren’t Informed Just DON’T VOTE

 Posted:  September 6, 2014

There is little doubt that Americans stay home on voting day. There is little doubt that many Americans don’t have a clue about how their government works or the candidates who are running. There is little doubt that there are plenty of Americans who call themselves independents which means they have no real idea of what they stand for – except that they are against the two parties who have controlled our country for decades.

Do us all a favor and just stay home and don’t vote this election. Leave the voting to the adults who care enough to take the time to study candidates, study issues, study the consequences of their votes.

We have come to a point where we have to decide which tax hikes and/or spending cuts have to be made to deal with a voluminous debt. We have come to a point where our borders are so porous and unattended that there are serious risks to our country from a health and security factor. We have a stagnant economy and a burgeoning welfare state.

The linked article stresses a point that is not made enough. VOTING IS A DECISION ABOUT HOW OTHERS SHOULD LIVE.

Voting is not a benign kind of activity. When you vote you are giving the group power to force neighbors to live the way you want them too.

The linked article even suggests that there should be some people formally excluded from voting.

If you don’t know where you stand or vote for a candidate because of their promises and lies, catch yourself and stay home and barbecue on Election Day.

We here, at DoesTomUdallRepresentYou.com, don’t like to be told how to live and we especially don’t like being taxed to pay for someone else’s ideas about how we should live.

Don’t tread on me is not just a philosophy; it is a way of life.
