What Happened to Acculturation?

 Posted:  October 7, 2014

The linked article below is rather sobering. There is a lot of talk about newcomers to America learning our language and learning our culture. This article paints a very different picture – sort of a replay of what Europe has found.

62 million people in the U.S. now speak a language other than English at home.

This, of course, doesn’t mean they don’t speak English too. It does mean, however, they choose to speak some other language in their homes which indicates they are most comfortable with another language than English.

How do you acculturate to America if you don’t know the language? How do you read the Constitution of the U.S. which was written in English? How do you follow the daily news which is predominately in English?

We are seeing the destruction of an American culture. What it morphs too will be the subject of many more articles and books.

What this article shows is that the America you knew is no longer alive.
