We don’t eat steaks anymore because the price is too high. We buy chicken when it has been cooked and is sitting in the “For Sale” bin at half price at the end of the day. We don’t touch seafood because that has gone through the roof. Heck, the other day a small box of Tide laundry detergent (30 loads) took a ten dollar bill out of our wallet.
Inflation is here and prices are being passed on too you. In case you didn’t know it, the prices you pay for things are dependent on lots of things – price of gas goes up you pay more for groceries. Price of employee’s goes up – you pay more for groceries. Price of utilities goes up – you pay more for groceries. Bad weather happens – you pay more for groceries. Congress passes new laws regarding workers – you pay more for groceries.
A business stays in business until they don’t make a profit. Business goes out of business when they can’t sell their goods for more than they paid plus their expenses.
Inflation is with us and squeezing us every day. The grocery business has extremely low profit margins. They aren’t gouging us.
They are just the canaries in the coal mine telling us that things stink.
When will the government policies change that drove the price of a pound of ground over $4.00 for the first time?
That is what Tom Udall needs to focus on!
